DAFgiving360 Donors Shatter Grant-making Record

One of the largest providers of DAFs – formerly known as Schwab Charitable – says that the use of these structures is at record levels. DAFgiving360 is a non-profit organization.

DAFgiving360™, one of the largest providers of donor-advised funds in the US, has announced a record-breaking $8.9 billion in grants to charitable organizations during its 2025 financial year, ending June 30.

The sum is a 34 per cent rise on a year earlier.

“Our donors continue to show that generosity remains a top priority,” Julie Sunwoo, president of DAFgiving360, said.

Donors recommended 1.4 million grants to 155,000 charities, rising by 19 per cent year-over-year. While Giving Tuesday in December 2024 generated 22,000 grants totaling more than $69 million in a single day, donors gave at a steady pace of $24 million per day across the year.

Some 38 per cent of all grants were recurring.

DAFs have become a popular way for affluent and high net worth individuals to support charity; the main alternative structure used today is the private foundation. DAFs, so their advocates say, provide donors with anonymity. (See a recent article here.)

Donors directed more than $148 million to disaster relief. That trend has continued, with $4 million already deployed to support victims of Texas flooding. More than 70 per cent of all grants were undesignated, giving nonprofits crucial flexibility in emergencies.

DAFgiving360 facilitated giving to nearly 14,000 more charities than in FY2024. One in seven of the supported nonprofits were new to the platform.

Sixty-three per cent of 2025 financial year contributions came in the form of non-cash assets – such as appreciated stocks, private business interests, and real estate.

DAFgiving360 reported a 20 per cent increase in advisor participation, with 4,700 financial advisors supporting donor strategies.

Since it was founded in 1999, DAFgiving360 donors have granted more than $44 billion to more than 280,000 organizations nationwide.
